In the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin fell below USD39,000 today after remaining volatile in recent sessions. The world’s most popular and largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin was down more than 3percent at USD38,315. So far in 2022, year-to-date, the digital token is down about 17percent. However, it is approximately 30percent lower than its record high of near USD69,000 set in November of last year.
Meanwhile, the global cryptocurrency market capitalisation remained below USD2 trillion, falling more than 4percent in the last 24 hours to USD1.79 trillion, according to CoinGecko.
Ether, the coin linked to the ethereum blockchain and the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, fell more than 4percent to USD2,545. Dogecoin, on the other hand, fell 4 percent to USD0.12, while Shiba Inu fell more than 5 percent to USD0.000023.
Other digital tokens also performed poorly, with Terra, Solana, and Polygon rising while Avalanche, Stellar, XRP, Litecoin, Cardano, Polkadot, and Uniswap prices falling by 2-8 percent in the last 24 hours.
