AMC Officially Starts Accepting Cryptocurrency Payments

AMC has delivered on its promise to accept cryptocurrency payments for online purchases.

The company announced in September that it would let people make purchases using Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and Litecoin. It also tried to appeal to non-cryptocurrency enthusiasts by announcing that it would finally support Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal as well.

AMC CEO Adam Aron says the company’s officially started accepting those payment methods:

Aron says the AMC won’t stop with those four cryptocurrencies, either, with plans to start accepting payments via Dogecoin in the future. (Which is the latest indicator that companies are starting to take the meme coin more seriously than its earliest users probably ever expected.)

The expansion to its supported payment methods is just part of AMC’s efforts to bounce back from the financial problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It secured the funding it needed to avoid bankruptcy in January—now it’s trying to thrive despite the ongoing public health crisis.
