British business opening tech hub in Porto

British company Kantar, a specialist in data analysis and brand consultancy, has decided to expand its presence in Porto with the installation of its first technological and innovation hub.

Porto “is a beautiful place to live and work and gives us access to a growing group of technological talents”, explains Alex Cesar, the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

According to idealista/news, it was in October last year that the British technology company entered Porto, with an investment of 4.3 million euros. And now, the company will open what is its first global technology and innovation hub (GTI hub) in the city, a decision integrated into its strategy that wants to “put the most advanced technological capabilities at the centre of Kantar’s differentiation”.

The new GTI that will open in Porto will be an “incubator of new technologies that support the products and platforms that will boost the next phase of growth for Kantar and its customers”.

Alex Cesar adds that the company’s objective is to “build a technological base and a team that safely accelerates Kantar’s growth. And the choice of Porto for our first global technology and innovation hub is an important step towards achieving this goal”.

400 more tech jobs

This new technology and innovation hub in Porto will also create hundreds of jobs. According to the company’s plans, 150 job offers will initially be placed in Porto for software engineers and data engineers who will work on the Kantar Marketplace platform. And the goal is that in the next four years they can hire a total of 400 professionals.

In the medium term, the capacity of the new hub in Porto will be expanded to serve as a centre of expertise for Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering and Application Support. In addition, “Porto will also be the base for Kantar’s digital nomad community, made up of senior professionals in the technology area”.
