Huge Uptick in Paramedic Training at Lakeshore Technical College

From Spring of 2021 to Spring of this year, Lakeshore Technical College is seeing an 87.5% increase in paramedic training.

This is expected to result in sending 30 essential workers into the field by the end of the year.

The increase is likely the result of grants and the community’s heightened awareness during the pandemic of the need for essential workers.

Half of the increase came from students at the Cleveland campus, while the other half came from LTC’s two “shared program” partner colleges: Nicolet College and Southwest Wisconsin Technical College.

LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen said in a statement that the cooperative nature of the program has helped spur the increase in paramedic training.

Nicolet and Southwest lacked paramedic training until their partnerships with LTC began in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
