Here is a quick list of Pete’s picks from Kempton.
14.05 Kempton – Defi Du Seuil
14.40 Kempton – On My Command
15.15 Kempton – Wishing And Hoping
Here’s an extra bit of information on Pete’s three main picks on a mouth-watering day of national hunt racing at Kempton.
14.05 Kempton – Defi Du Seuil
Pete is going for the outsider of the four and hoping that Defi Du Seuil rolls back the clock for Philip Hobbs.
A Tingle Creek winner in 2019, Hobbs’ runner has struggled to win down that sort of form since but showed some semblance of promise with a last time out fourth at Ascot.
Tom O’Brien takes the ride at Kempton and the following is a couple of reasons why this Defi can defy the odds.
“In the 1965 at Ascot last time around, well didn’t look brilliant but that was the first run back after a wind operation and the yard, Philip Hobbs and co, are very very confident in this runner.
What is also interesting here is that Envoi Allen made a big mistake at Huntingdon last time around and wasn’t impressed impressed massively by that runner…I wasn’t sure that horse looked right to me. The same thing can be said for Mister Fisher who was pulled up here last time at Kempton as well.
So yes Defi Du Seuil up against a full strength Envoi Allen or a full strength Mister Fisher I’d be slightly more worried, but this time around I’m not. I think finally Defi Du Seuil is going to roar back into action.”
14.40 Kempton – On My Command
Pete clearly isn’t scared with taking on the favourites at Kempton and he has gone for a runner from the up and coming Harry Fry yard.
On My Command is chasing a hat-trick and comes to Kempton on the back of an impressive 14 length win at Plumpton.
This is step up but here is a snippet of why Pete thinks that On My Command can do the business.
“This mare is a corker I think. Did really well over at Plumpton recently and at Market Rasen, got back-to-back wins as well, won one of those by a huge distance too. Not only is On My Command a great horse but is also related to one of my favourite ever horses – War Command…
I think War Command was a great horse, I think this is a really good horse and in this field there is plenty you can oppose I think rather than support. Therefore, I think each-way on On My Command is going to be the way to go.
15.15 Kempton – Wishing And Hoping
A final juicy odds pick meaning Pete’s choices would make a tasty treble, Wishing and Hoping was chasing a hat-trick before being pulled up at Aintree.
Any return to that earlier win form could see Wishing and Hoping Go close.
Here’s a snapshot of why Pete believes he isn’t on a wing and a prayer with Wishing and Hoping.
“Wishing and Hoping is way too interesting…was last time beaten by Protektorat, I mean firstly Protektorat is an absolute great, so yeah not too worried about that.
Did have to pull up in that race but was right at the front and was going to pressure and push Protektorat, I was sure of that until a mistake at the 11th. I think ultimately Wishing and Hoping looked too good there to be ignored. Some good wins before that before, in fact back to back wins going into the Many Clouds. So for me this runner is too big.”
