The Shiba Inu behind some of the internet’s most recognized memes celebrated its birthday Tuesday.
“Today is Kabosu’s birthday,” the dog’s official Instagram wrote. “She is 16 years old.”
Kabosu rose to fame as the “doge meme” after her owner posted photos of the dog online in 2010.

Her popularity has since risen, with her image inspiring the icons for a number of cryptocurrencies, including Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, worth billions of dollars.
Earlier this year on Instagram, her owner Atsuko Sato wrote on Instagram, “Never in a million years would I have imagined the impact that my photoshoot of Kabosu would have on the internet.”
