Square Enix has paved the way for Japanese gaming over the past 30 years, creating some of the most memorable games on a wide selection of consoles and gaming outlets.
Recent announcements have shown their recent venture to expand on the immersive gaming experiences through the implementation of blockchain technologies into their future projects.
This new venture sees Square Enix team up with Oasys Gaming Blockchain. They are a self described eco-friendly blockchain designed for the gaming community specifically.
Their blockchain follows a “Proof of Stake” model, similar to that of Ethereum (once the bridge merge is complete), Dogecoin, Litecoin to name a few.

What can we expect from this new collaboration?
Gamers who are fans of Square Enix will be pleased to hear the gaming company is giving gamers more ways to get involved with the community through implementing user contributions when developing up and coming titles.
Square Enix are the brains behind titles such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Tomb Raider and Just Cause.
Whilst new titles and prospects would be ideal, many long time fans of the company will be keen to see if the already established titles will make their way into the realms of web3, and the advancements it can bring for titles such as these.
Square Enix and their views on blockchain
Whilst this announcement from both Square Enix and Oasys is fairly new, talks between the two companies can be dated back to the start of 2022.
Many companies within the same industry have taken the jump into decentralised gaming or have plans to do so in the near future. With how lucrative this direction has proven in the past, it is no surprise that Square Enix seniors have felt positive vibrations from taking their business into this direction.
Following this, in April 2022 Square Enix officially released their blockchain Entertainment Business division which has proven to be a great success thus far!
They have even elaborated more on the success the Metaverse was presented in 2021 in a blog post that was published on their official site, nodding towards the potential integration of NFTs also due to the added value digital goods received in this timeframe.

The potential of Oasys leaves Square Enix in a lucrative position due to their previous capabilities of producing stellar triple A game titles enjoyed by millions on a worldwide scale.
