We know that theater chains are doing whatever they can to entice people back to the movies, but we didn’t expect the use of cryptocurrency to be on the list. Announced in August and reportedly put into action last week, AMC Theaters will now allow moviegoers to buy online tickets using a wide variety of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin. Given that a major hurdle to wider cryptocurrency acceptance is its inability to be used as seamlessly and widely as traditional currency (like, say, that US Dollar sitting in your bank account or folded in your wallet), its acceptance at nationwide chains like AMC make the concept of cryptocurrency that much more viable. On top of AMC’s new payment announcement, we’ve got details on Yema’s new neo-vintage watch Kickstarter, Snow Peak’s collaboration with Pendleton and Benchmade’s new Tengu Tool. This is Today in Gear.

The Carhartt jacket shaped by 100 years of history.
Named after Carhartt’s first-ever line of hunting gear (which, for the record, dates back to the 1930s), the Super Dux coat leverages almost a century of outdoor and sporting performance. Lined with Thinsulate and built on 7.75-ounce Nylon, the Super Dux is treated with a Rain Defender® durable water-repellent finish and Wind Fighter® technology to keep wet and windy conditions at bay.
Benchmade teases its new limited edition Gold Class Tengu Tool.
When Benchmade shows off a new Gold Class blade, it’s definitely worth stopping and taking a look. As a complement to the Gold Class Tengu Flipper that dropped earlier this year, Benchmade is releasing a Gold Class Tengu Tool in a similar treatment, featuring an Arctic Storm Fat Carbon handle (with a blue G10 shield inlay) and a BiFrost patterned Damasteel blade — wrapped in a black sharkskin leather pouch with blue stitching. This Tengu Tool drops soon, so keep it locked on Benchmade for more details when it hits.
It feels like Pendleton is collaborating with just about everyone lately…
We wouldn’t blame you if it felt like Pendleton collaborations are everywhere lately (and trust us, that’s not a bad thing). One of our all-time favorite brands, Snow Peak, has teamed up with the Americana icon on a blanket that’s reminiscent of the traditional Navajo “Mountain Majesty” pattern woven between 1920 and 1940.
Yema launched a new neo-vintage watch release on Kickstarter.
It’s surprising to see Yema — a fairly well-established French label — launch a Kickstarter for a new model. That said, the watch is a unique choice for the brand, and focuses more on sport watches and less on dress watches. The collection revives the 1960s-aesthetics of Yema’s Wristmaster series, featuring two models: the leather-strapped Wristmaster Adventurer and metal bracelet Traveller.
Introducing The Busker: A global approach to traditional Irish Whiskey.
In a crowded spirits market (especially when it comes to Irish whiskey) we love a brand that’s willing to both honor heritage and try something new. Made at the Royal Oak Distillery in County Carlow in Ireland, the line features four whiskeys (a single malt, a single grain, a traditional single pot still style and a blended whiskey featuring all three). The brand aims to represent modern Ireland — tied to tradition, but exploding with new ideas and a global perspective.
