By Sarah Jarvis (September 1, 2022, 4:48 PM EDT) — The company behind the stablecoin tether and cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex wants law firm Roche Freedman LLP terminated as plaintiffs’ counsel in a market manipulation class action it’s facing, after an anonymous report alleged the firm’s founding partner Kyle Roche formed a “secret pact” with a blockchain platform to sue crypto competitors.
Wednesday’s request from DigFinex Inc. and various other companies associated with Bitfinex and Tether that are involved in the suit came the same day that Roche individually moved to withdraw from the case and indicated he is “no longer involved” with his firm’s class action practice.
