Miami, May 6, 2022 – Miami Dade College (MDC), in collaboration with Activate and Lightshift Capital, will host Activate x Wormhole, the first multi-chain hackathon bringing together leading blockchain ecosystems for a week of learning, building, and exploring web 3, May 18 – 22, at MDC’s Wolfson Campus.
“Web 3 is one of the fastest growing emerging tech sectors. Considered the Internet of the future, Web 3.0 will enable users and developers to use decentralized blockchain technology,” said Chechu Lasheras, director at MDC’s Business Innovation and Technology Center. “Blockchain will be the future of everything. It is great that Miami Dade College is leading the future by bringing these great partners and
experiences to our students and community.”
Activate x Wormhole will bring together some of the biggest names in blockchain, including Wormhole, Solana, Ethereum, Algorand, Polygon, Starknet and Near. The event will allow those interested in web 3 to kick-start projects, explore job opportunities, and receive mentorship from industry leaders. Whether they aspire to be designers, developers, or community builders, the event is designed to help participants grow and experiment with blockchain.
Open to anyone interested in web 3, the hackathon will be held in-person, but remote participants are welcomed. MDC students participating in the workshops or the hackathon will earn a ledger Nano S hardware wallet with 100k$ in crypto.

This one-of-a-kind hackathon will take place at MDC’s The Idea Center and the Business Innovation &Technology (BIT) Center at the Wolfson Campus. The event will host hundreds of builders from around the world and award over $140,000 in prizes and bounties in DeFi, NFTs, Metaverse and Infrastructure categories.
