Revolut is launching a financial literacy course for cryptocurrency holders and it’s commencing with a DOT giveaway. Revolut app users who complete the short quiz at the end of the module will receive $15 of Polkadot’s native currency courtesy of Web3 Foundation and Polkadot. Naturally, the questions pupils are expected to answer revolve around the blockchain ecosystem conceived by Dr. Gavin Wood.

Revolut Rolls Out Crypto 101

It’s become de rigueur for crypto companies to launch educational courses for their users, but only a handful have gone down the Revolut route of including participation awards. With more than 80 cryptocurrencies supported by the financial savings app and built-in wallet, it’s become desirable for Revolut to disseminate information on the workings of each asset and specifically what makes it different. And what better way to maximize participation than with a $15 bonus for completing the first quiz?

As Revolut’s Crypto General Manager Emil Urmashin notes, “There’s a huge appetite from our customers to learn more about cryptocurrencies.” To facilitate this, the financial app has created Learn & Earn, a pithy title for a concise course on all things crypto. The first module, ‘Crypto Basics,’ does just that, providing an overview of blockchain technology, before tackling Polkadot specifically.

Revolut customers will be shown a series of short videos and flash cards that detail how the Polkadot network of parachains works, the role the relay chain plays, and how the DOT token is used to implement such use cases as governance. Future modules will do the same with other crypto networks, and are likely to also include crypto incentives for completing short quizzes.

Polkadot Picks Up Steam

Polkadot’s partnership with Revolut arrives at a busy time for the web3 blockchain network. The arrival of a new staking dashboard has been welcomed by those who are already involved with its rapidly expanding ecosystem. Nomination pools will also soon debut, making it easy to nominate staking without the need to use third-party providers. This provision is an integral part of Polkadot’s entire ethos given that the blockchain is built on Nominated-Proof-of-Stake consensus.

One of the greatest barriers to broader Polkadot adoption, arguably, has been the complexity of its ecosystem, which can deter casual crypto users. Revolut’s Polkadot educational module, therefore, is a welcome addition that can only serve to illuminate the network and what makes it different from its rivals – not least Ethereum.

Web3 Foundation and Polkadot founder Dr. Gavin Wood was famously involved with Ethereum from the outset and is credited with writing much of its code. Polkadot was designed to overcome the shortcomings of its forebears, Ethereum among them, by providing greater scalability without compromising decentralization.

While Revolut users may not become bona fide experts on Polkadot upon completion of a short quiz, they will at least be a step closer to understanding why the network exists – and will also count themselves among the world’s newest DOT holders.
